Professionalism Still Means “Make Your Strain Less Visible”

Professionalism is often presented as a neutral standard of conduct.

Stay composed. Stay organized. Be clear. Be responsive. Be measured. Be appropriate. Be collaborative. Regulate your reactions. Keep your tone steady. Do not make the room harder for others to occupy. The language sounds benign until you notice how often it is enforced downward and how closely it tracks dominant comfort.

In practice, professionalism often means this: absorb the strain privately so the structure does not have to account for it publicly.
